Two phones launched almost on the same day, going on sale on the exact same date — July 4 on Amazon. Same price range. Same target audience. This is one of those rare situations where a direct comparison actually makes a lot of sense.
The OnePlus N6 launched on June 30 and the Samsung Galaxy M47 5G launched on June 29. Both are priced around ₹22,999 as the starting effective price. Both are 5G phones under ₹25,000. And both are fighting for the same buyer — someone who wants a good daily phone without spending too much.
So which one should you actually buy? Let's go through it properly.

Display
The OnePlus N6 has a 6.75-inch LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,200 nits brightness. The Samsung Galaxy M47 5G has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,400 nits brightness.
Both are smooth at 120Hz, but Samsung's AMOLED panel is clearly better. You get deeper blacks, more vivid colours, and better sunlight visibility. If you watch a lot of videos or spend hours scrolling through social media, the M47's screen will look noticeably better. OnePlus went with LCD to probably keep costs down, and it shows here.
Performance
The OnePlus N6 runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 6360 Apex with a claimed AnTuTu score of over 6,15,800. The Samsung Galaxy M47 5G runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 built on a 4nm process.
The M47 also comes with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, faster memory than most phones at this price. The N6 tops out at 6GB RAM with 128GB storage in both variants. For everyday tasks, both will feel smooth. But if you do heavier multitasking or light gaming, the M47 has a slight edge in memory speed. Neither phone is made for heavy gaming though be realistic about that.
Battery
This is where the OnePlus N6 just runs away. 8,000mAh vs 6,000mAh that is a big difference. OnePlus claims three days on a single charge. Samsung's M47 should give you a solid one and a half to two days. Both have 45W fast charging and bypass charging support.
If battery life is the most important thing to you and for a lot of Indian users it is the OnePlus N6 is the obvious winner. A phone that lasts three days between charges means less anxiety, less hunting for a charger, and more freedom throughout the day.
Cameras
The OnePlus N6 has a 50MP main camera, a 2MP secondary lens, and an 8MP front camera. That's a fairly basic setup.
The Samsung Galaxy M47 5G has a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 32MP front camera. That's a much more useful package. The 12MP ultra-wide is actually usable for group shots and landscape photos. The 32MP selfie camera is a big deal for people who take a lot of selfies or do video calls. On top of that, the M47 can shoot 4K video, while the N6 tops out at 1080p.
If cameras matter to you even a little, the Samsung Galaxy M47 5G is clearly the better choice.
Software and Updates
The OnePlus N6 runs OxygenOS 16 on Android 16, with two major OS updates and three years of security patches. That's decent but nothing special.
The Samsung Galaxy M47 5G runs One UI 8.5 on Android 16 with six major Android OS updates and six years of security patches. That is genuinely impressive for a phone under ₹25,000. Samsung usually reserved this kind of support for its flagship Galaxy S and Z series. Getting it on an M-series phone at this price is a big deal if you plan to use your phone for four or five years.
Build and Durability
The OnePlus N6 has IP65 rating and MIL-STD-810H certification — solid dust and water resistance for a budget phone. The Samsung Galaxy M47 5G has Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the display, which protects against drops and scratches. Both are well-built for the price.
Price — Both Start at ₹22,999
OnePlus N6 — 4GB + 128GB at ₹22,999, 6GB + 128GB at ₹24,999. With Prime Day offers, prices drop to ₹19,999 and ₹21,999.
Samsung Galaxy M47 5G — 8GB + 128GB at ₹22,999 effective price (with coupon and bank offers), also going on sale July 4 on Amazon.
The M47 actually gives you 8GB RAM as the base variant at the same price as the N6's 4GB base. That's worth noting.
So Which One Should You Buy?
This really comes down to what matters most to you.
Buy the OnePlus N6 if battery life is your number one priority. The 8,000mAh battery, IP65 rating, and clean OxygenOS experience make it a great phone if you hate charging your phone every day. Also a good pick if you're buying for someone who is not very tech-heavy and just needs a reliable daily phone.
Buy the Samsung Galaxy M47 5G if you care about a better display, better cameras, faster memory, and long-term software support. The AMOLED screen, 32MP selfie camera, 12MP ultra-wide, 4K video, and six years of updates make it a more complete and future-proof package at the same price.
Honestly, for most buyers in India who keep their phones for three to four years, the Samsung Galaxy M47 5G makes slightly more sense. Better screen, better cameras, more RAM, and much longer update support. The only thing it loses is the battery — and that's a real loss if you are always away from a charger.
