Samsung Galaxy M47 5G Officialy Launched in India [Specs, Price, Features]

Samsung just launched the Galaxy M47 5G in India, and honestly, it's been a while since we saw the M4x series back here. The last M44 never even came to India, so this one feels like Samsung dusting off an old name and giving it another shot.

So is it worth your money? Let's go through what's actually inside the box first, and talk price at the end.

What's Under the Hood

This is a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 phone, built on a 4nm process. It's not a flagship chip by any stretch, but for everyday use, social media, YouTube, and light-to-medium gaming, it should hold up fine. Samsung's paired it with LPDDR5X RAM (6GB or 8GB options) and UFS 3.1 storage, which is faster than the old UFS 2.2 stuff you'd find in cheaper phones. Storage goes up to 256GB, and you can expand it further with a microSD card if you need more space.

Display

You're getting a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes scrolling and gaming look smooth. Samsung says it can hit up to 1400 nits peak brightness, so outdoor visibility shouldn't be a problem even on a sunny afternoon. There's Gorilla Glass Victus+ on top too, so it should survive the usual drops and scratches better than older Samsung budget phones.

Cameras

Here's where things get a little mixed. The main camera is 50MP with OIS, which is solid for a phone in this range — should give decent, stable shots even in low light. But the ultra-wide camera is just 5MP, and the macro lens is a basic 2MP, so don't expect much from those two. Selfie camera is 12MP, with HDR support, and front and back cameras both manage 4K video recording, which not many phones in this price bracket offer.

So if you're someone who shoots a lot of wide landscape shots or group photos, this might not impress you much. But for regular daily photography, it should be fine.

Battery and Charging

This is honestly one of the best parts of the phone. You get a massive 6,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support (though the charger itself is sold separately, so budget for that). There's also something called bypass charging — basically, when you're gaming with the phone plugged in, power goes straight to the processor instead of passing through the battery first. This keeps the phone cooler and stops your battery from degrading as fast over time. Nice touch for gamers.

Software and Updates

This is honestly Samsung's strongest pitch here. The M47 5G ships with One UI 8.5 on Android 16, and Samsung is promising six years of OS updates and six years of security patches. That's seriously long for a phone in this price segment most competitors give you 3-4 years at best. If you like keeping your phone for a long time without it feeling outdated, this matters a lot more than people realise.

You also get the usual AI extras — Circle to Search with Google, Object Eraser, Edit Suggestion, and Samsung's Knox security stuff for protecting your data.

Should You Buy It?

If you care about long-term software support and a battery that lasts you a full day (or more) without much worry, the Galaxy M47 5G makes a strong case for itself. The display is good, the battery is great, and Samsung's update promise is genuinely rare to see at this level.

But if camera versatility is a big deal for you — especially wide shots — you might want to look at something like the OnePlus Nord CE 6 5G or wait and compare it with the Galaxy M56 5G before deciding.

For most regular users though, this looks like a safe, dependable buy.

Price and Availability

The phone starts at ₹22,999, but that's the "effective" price after coupon offers — so the actual sticker price might be a bit higher before discounts kick in. Samsung hasn't shared the variant-wise pricing for the 6GB/8GB or 128GB/256GB versions yet.

It'll be up for sale from July 4, timed with Amazon's Prime Day sale. You can grab it from Amazon, the Samsung India website, or offline stores. Comes in two colours — Rogue Red (matte texture) and Blaze Blue.
