ASUS is getting back into tablets in India, and this one actually looks solid. The ASUS Pad (T3201) launches on August 6, 2026, at 12 noon, and from what's shown so far, this is ASUS's best shot at tablets since their old ZenPad days. Let's go through what we know so far.
This tablet is built around its display. It's got a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED screen with 2.8K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. That's a proper premium panel, not the usual basic LCD screen you find in this price range. The screen also covers 92% of the front, has eye comfort certification, and comes with a smudge-resistant coating so fingerprints don't ruin the look.
Add to that four speakers with Dolby Atmos sound, and you can tell this thing is made for people who like watching shows or playing games on a bigger screen.
It runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chip along with 8GB RAM. You get two storage options, 128GB or 256GB, and if that's not enough, there's a microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB extra storage. It comes with Android 16 already installed. For daily stuff like browsing, watching videos, switching between apps, and playing most games, this chip should handle it fine.
There's a big 9,000mAh battery packed in here, which is impressive given how slim the tablet is. ASUS says it can charge from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes. If you binge a lot of shows on your tablet, a battery this size should last you a full day without needing to charge again and again.
You get a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. Nothing fancy, but good enough for video calls and quick photos, which is normal for a tablet like this.
A few extra things worth knowing:
ASUS GlideX lets you connect this tablet with your laptop, so you can share files or even control your PC from the tablet.
Google's Circle to Search feature is here too, so you can search anything just by circling or tapping it on the screen.
Face unlock is included, but ASUS itself says don't use it for banking apps or anything that needs real security.
It also works with ASUS Pen 2.0 and a Bluetooth keyboard, so this can be used for actual work too, not just entertainment. And ASUS is throwing in a protective case in the box, though it's only meant to stop scratches, not drops. Once it launches, you'll be able to get it from the ASUS eShop, ASUS Exclusive Stores, Flipkart, and Reliance Digital.
Now, about the price
This is the one part still not confirmed. ASUS hasn't announced an official price yet. Most reports are guessing it'll fall somewhere between Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000. But one report, based on info already on ASUS's own India website, says it could be priced closer to Rs 62,990. I'd take that higher number carefully until ASUS confirms it themselves on launch day, because that price would put it right up against tablets like Samsung's Galaxy Tab S series.
